Morocco and Belgium signed, today, Monday in Rabat, two memorandums of understanding and a roadmap for cooperation, on the occasion of the third meeting of the joint higher committee for the Morocco-Belgium partnership.

These agreements, which were signed during this meeting held under the chairmanship of Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister, and Alexander De Croo, Belgian Prime Minister, relate to two memorandums of understanding on modernizing the judicial administration and green energy, in addition to a road map related to the work completed within the framework of the political dialogue.

The roadmap for cooperation, signed by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, and Hajjah Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions, concerns the measures that have been implemented within the framework of the political dialogue (holding political consultations, a ministerial meeting Foreign Affairs, and organizing meetings of the Joint Supreme Committee), and determines the prospects for bilateral cooperation in various fields (energy transition, migration, security, human rights…).

The memorandum on modernizing the judicial administration, which was signed by Abdel Latif Wehbe, Minister of Justice, and Paul van Tijschelt, Deputy Prime Minister and Belgian Minister of Justice, aims to establish a framework for cooperation and exchange between the two sides with regard to modernizing the judicial administration, strengthening its administrative capabilities, and developing its resources. This is done through exchanging information on legislative developments related to the field of justice, and technical support for justice system reform projects.

Regarding the memorandum of understanding related to the field of green energy, which was signed by Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, and Hajjah Lahbib, it aims to develop cooperation between the two parties, on the basis of achieving mutual benefit in the field of green energy, including green ammonia; This is by encouraging exchange in these areas and supporting the efforts made by both parties to produce and distribute green hydrogen and ammonia for local consumption and regional and international export of the industrial sector towards the industrial clusters of the Kingdom of Belgium and other European Union countries.
