More than 70,000 Polish farmers will take part in the protests that started today in different regions of Poland. RMF24 radio station reports about this.
According to the media, 500-600 pickets, blockades and other actions will be held in all 16 voivodships of the country. Dozens of tractors are already on the streets of Bydgoszcz and Katowice.
Farmers oppose the European Union’s “green” policy, which aims to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Police have asked drivers to use public transport and have released a map of streets closed by farmers with a detour scheme.
On February 9, Polish farmers began large-scale protests and blocked border crossings with Ukraine. They demand to limit or completely ban the import of cheap agricultural products from Ukraine, strengthen support for national livestock breeding, and also express their disagreement with the “Green Deal”.
On March 6, the protest march of farmers in Warsaw turned into riots. As a result of them, 14 policemen were injured, about 30 protesters were detained.
