The Ministry of Health managed to vaccinate 100% of the target population established in its immunization strategy
More of 55,000 girls, boys and adolescents were vaccinated against the human papillomavirus (HPV)thanks to the efforts of the vaccination brigades of the Integrated Health Networks Directorate (Diris) Lima Centrowho visited public and private schools in the 14 districts of the region.
This has resulted in one of the highest vaccination rates against this disease in recent years.
This was highlighted by Delia Davila Vigilgeneral director of Diris Lima Centro, who indicated that this figure allowed reaching the goal of protecting 100% of the population goal established by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
“According to the regional progress report of the 2024 HPV vaccination plan, Prepared by the Minsa Immunization Directorate from January to date, the Diris Lima Centro had the goal of vaccinating 51,924 children and adolescents. However, as of July 2, we have managed to immunize 55,196 people in that group, thus surpassing the initial goal,” he explained.

He specified that of that total, 39,237 are children aged 9 to 13 and 15,959 are adolescents aged 14 to 18. By providing this protection from childhood against HPV, it is hoped to reduce the prevalence of cervical cancer in women and prevent numerous deaths from this disease in the future, Dávila said.
In this context, he congratulated the nurses in his jurisdiction for making this important immunization possible. The sessions were held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (Minedu) and with the consent of the parents, who authorized the entry of the brigades into educational institutions to vaccinate students from the fifth grade of primary and secondary school.
In the ranking of regional coverage of the regular vaccination schedule, it is highlighted that Diris Lima Centro reached 100% of the goal established by the Minsa.
Vaccines from the national vaccination scheme are free and available in the 64 health centers of Diris Lima Centro.
