Senapred carried out an assessment of the frontal system that affects the south-central area of ​​the country and that has the Biobío region in a state of catastrophe and on red alert. In this regard, they reported that there are more than 1,500 homes with various types of damage, in addition to 482 victims and 479 isolated.

In Biobío, the most affected by the meteorological phenomenon, one of the communes with the greatest damage is Antuco, with 600 damaged homes, while in Arauco there are 450 affected properties.

Furthermore, in Alto Biobío there are 299 isolated people, while in Santa Juana there are 343 victims and in Concepción another 23 people affected.

Classes are suspended throughout the region.

Connectivity

He also took stock of connectivity in the affected regions. The Biotrén suspended passage through the Biobío railway bridge, due to an increase in the river’s flow, while interruptions were reported in the communes of Antuco, Los Ángeles Arauco, San Pedro de La Paz (Ruta de La Madera), Curanilahue and Nacimiento.

Mass removals were also recorded in the communes of Curanilahue, San Rosendo, Lota, Quilaco, Tomé and Arauco.

In La Araucanía, meanwhile, isolated people were reported in the communes of Cholchol, Renaico and Lumaco, in addition to damage to homes in Angol.
