The security device for the regional elections next Sunday is ready in the department of Cesar, and for this purpose 1,313 uniformed National Police personnel have been arranged and will be deployed throughout the territory. This contingent is joined by 700 Army soldiers who will reinforce the rural area and specialized public order teams arriving from the city of Bogotá.
Eduardo Chamorro, commander of the Police in Cesar, stated that the agents will be distributed at the voting stations and checkpoints established in the department, in addition to reinforcing the force in the municipalities where the risks of violence are greater and above all which there is special attention.
He highlighted that the Unified Command Post has already been activated, from where the security device will be monitored. Likewise, we will work jointly with the National Army to guarantee a smooth process in matters of public order.
Regarding electoral crimes, the colonel stated that to date, Cesar has received three complaints about vote buying in the municipalities of Astrea, Valledupar, El Paso and Aguachica, which are being processed by the corresponding authorities.
