English star Moeen Ali of Comilla Victorians arrived in Chittagong just a day ago. The next day he came down to the field. Moeen went down to play the first match of this season for Comilla against the host Chittagong Challengers. Not only that, he showed excellent all-round performance with bat and ball. Did a great hat trick.
Chittagong Challengers were bowled out for 166 runs in just 16.3 overs after Moeen Ali’s hat-trick of 239 runs. Dhaka won by 73 runs. Coming to bowl in the 17th over, he completed the hat-trick by sending back Shahidul Islam, Al Amin and Bilal Khan in the first three balls.
The great Dhaka pacer Shariful Islam scored a hat trick in the first match of this BPL season. This time BPL saw the second hat-trick by Moeen.
Moeen Ali scored an unbeaten 53 runs off 24 balls with 5 sixes and 2 boundaries. Comilla Victorians scored 238 on the back of Will Jack’s century (53-ball 108), Moeen Ali’s 53 and Liton Das’ 60.
Chittagong Packet came down to bat with a target of 239 runs for 166 runs. Moeen took 4 wickets with 23 runs in 3.3 overs. Simply put, Moeen came, played, scored a hat-trick and won.
