The fire broke out strongly from the planted forest, spreading to the sugarcane area of people in Khanh Hoa province. Hundreds of people were mobilized to put out the fire.
On the evening of May 8, Mr. Mai Xuan Binh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ninh Son commune (Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province), said that in the area, there was a fire in the planted acacia forest and original sugarcane (cane regenerated from the roots of the previous crop) causing damage to about 60 hectares.
“By 9:00 p.m. on May 8, the fire was basically controlled by the authorities,” Mr. Binh said.

Previously, at 6:00 a.m. on the same day, the People’s Committee of Ninh Son commune received news from the Northern Khanh Hoa Protection Forest Management Board requesting coordination in fighting forest fires in sub-zone 59, Dong canal area (in Ninh Son commune). ).
Immediately afterwards, the People’s Committee of Ninh Son commune mobilized hundreds of people in the area to coordinate in putting out the fire. However, due to prolonged hot weather, the fire spread to the sugarcane and acacia growing area of people in village 5, Ninh Son commune.
