After the controversy arising from the alleged excessive payment of 18 million soles in the purchase of 3,600 motorcycles on the part of the Municipality of Limathe metropolitan deputy mayor Renzo Reggiardo announced that a second batch of these vehicles will be delivered on June 25th. The situation is still pending the response of the UNOPS y Pana Autos SAC regarding the complaint of a possible overvaluation.
«On the 25th of this month an event will be held where the delivery of 400 motorcycles from the second batch will be announced. Initially 400 units have been received and now another 400 more are expected. In addition, another 600 motorcycles are already in the country, which are being prepared to be delivered to the district municipalities. Until now, we have stored 1,400 motorcycles of the 4,000 promised by the mayor«, declared the official to the media.
The controversy arose last Sunday through a media outlet, which revealed a notable disparity between the price paid for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML) and the Regional Government of Piura for the acquisition of motorcycles with similar characteristics.
According to reports, the cost for each motorcycle paid by the MML was 36,400 soles, while the Piura region paid 31,454 soles for units with similar characteristics. Faced with this disparity, Reggiardo affirmed that the process with the supplier was transparent and are waiting for the response from the UNOPSentity in charge of leading the acquisition of vehicles.

Reggiardo expressed concern about the price disparity after the transparent purchasing process carried out by the MML. They found out from the media that motorcycles in Piura were purchased at a lower cost.
