New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Rinku Singh has been with the same Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise for 7 years. A few seasons ago, Rinku really started showcasing his potential, winning matches for KKR, and his consistency also earned him an India call-up. Rinku also remains a part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 roster as a reserve. Despite the fact that Rinku is one of India’s finest finishers when it comes to the T20 format, he only receives a salary of Rs 55 lakh at KKR. On the other hand, his IPL teammate Mitchell Starc earns Rs 24.75 crore.
If Rinku decides to leave KKR and put his name in the auction pool, even a bid of Rs 10 crore will not be enough to sign him. When asked about the low salary offered at KKR, Rinku gave a great example of his mindset and said that even 50-55 lakhs is enough for him.
“Even 50-55 lakh rupees is a lot. When I started, I had not even thought that I would be able to earn so much. At that time I was a child and thought that even if I get Rs. 10-5 lakh, I will earn at least.” “Somehow, now I am getting 55 lakh rupees, so that is enough. Whatever God gives me, I should be happy with that, this is not my thinking. Too much money. In an interview to Dainik Jagran, Rinku said, “I am very happy even with 55 lakh rupees. When I did not have this, then I realized the value of money.”
Rinku is not the kind of person who believes in chasing money. Like a cosmic saint, he highlights that people come and go just like that, with no money in their pockets. So, the most important thing is to stay grounded.
“To tell you the truth today, all this is an illusion. Neither have you brought anything with you nor will you take anything with you. You don’t know when times will change. I want to say that you have to go. Stay the way you came from, what else,” Rinku said.
