At first glance, the little princess with blue eyes looks like any other five-year-old girl. But he lives in his own world and doesn’t even notice those closest to him. And that is the hardest thing for Pavlínka Petra’s mother. “I don’t know what she’s thinking, she won’t tell me or show if she’s in pain, and I don’t even know if she likes me,” stated Petra. “Her autism is one of the symptoms of Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. How it will affect her in the future is not clear.”
But the mother does not lose hope and tries her best to develop Pavlínka. Thanks to her determination, Pavlínka walks. “I’m so active, I didn’t give up, we separated Pája with intensive neurorehabilitation,” she pointed out.
Communication is most important
“I’m very happy that thanks to the Blesku collection, we can go for dolphin therapy. I hope that it will help Páje to start to perceive at least a little and maybe even talk and communicate with us somehow.” said Petra. According to Petra, therapy using these animals can trigger emotions and healing processes in the body. “I also know a family where their autistic little girl was really talked to by the dolphins,” Pavlínka’s mother added.
Drudgery
Last year, the necessary 120,000 was collected directly in Pavlínek in the Lightning Miracle fundraiser on the Donio donation platform, and thanks to the help of Lightning readers, the girl now awaits 10 days of therapy in the water with dolphins. “It may seem like a vacation to some, but the exercises are very demanding, it’s really hard work. Plus, very, very expensive work,” said mom.
“We’re really looking forward to getting there, but I’m nervous about how we’ll manage the flight,” revealed Petra. The peacock is constantly on the move. However, Petra is equipped, and before the flight, Pavlínca will also give her a medicine that will make her slightly sedated. “Pavlínka receives sleeping pills. It wouldn’t be possible without it, she would probably never sleep.” laughs Petra.
What is Phelan-McDermid Syndrome?
An extremely rare genetic disease with several different symptoms. Reduced muscle tension, absence of speech and varying degrees of autistic spectrum disorders are common. There are approximately 2,500 such sick children in the world.
