Minsa: Children under 5 years of age will end the vaccination schedule

The Minsa and the Juntos program joined forces to carry out vaccination campaigns in Amazonas, Arequipa, Piura, Lambayeque and Cajamarca

The collaboration between the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the National Direct Support Program for the Poorest (Together) of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) facilitates the vaccination of boys and girls under 5 years against various diseases, including polio, measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox and influenza, among others, in various regions of the country. The objective is to close the immunization gaps in the child population.

Since last Thursday, vaccination campaigns have been launched in various districts of the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Amazonas and Arequipa. Beneficiaries of the Juntos program will have access to free vaccination and other health services until June 25th.

The start of the campaign took place on the Paseo de las Musas in Chiclayo «Closing vaccination gaps Together«, aimed at the beneficiaries of the social program and the general public. During the event, mothers with their children under 5 years old updated their vaccines from the regular schedule. In addition, pregnant women and older adults were vaccinated against influenza, pneumococcus and other diseases.

Magdalena Quepuy Izarra, executive director of Immunizations at the Minsa, highlighted the importance of providing protection to the vulnerable population served by the Juntos program, especially those boys and girls under 1 year old, to ensure they are up to date on their vaccines. He stressed the need for children under 5 years of age to receive their influenza and pneumococcus vaccines during the winter season.

During these vaccination activities, there is the collaboration of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), Produce, Banco de la Nación, Local Registration Unitsas well as other social programs such as Pension 65, Cuna Más and Contigo.
