MEXICO CITY (process.com.mx).- The Ministry of Culture asked the Tamayo Museum not to repeat the performance “Casts” by the Danish artist Nina Beier, in which dogs participated that had to remain motionless for 10 minutes.
Through its X account, formerly Twitter, the agency indicated that it respects the programming criteria of the National Institute of Fine Arts and its museums, but rejected any demonstration that implies violating the rights of sentient beings.
“At the Ministry of Culture we respect the programming criteria of @bellasartesinba and its museums in favor of creative freedom. However, we will never agree to violate the rights of sentient beings. We ask @museotamayo not to repeat the aforementioned performance,” he indicated.
The publication arose in response to the explanation disseminated through the same platform by the museum director, Magali Arriola and the author of the performance in which they explained that “Casts” seeks to draw attention to the relationship between humans and the natural world. and the different ways in which they try to dominate it.
This, after various users on social networks condemned the use of dogs that supposedly pretended to be dead and there were even those who claimed that the dogs were forced to remain motionless throughout the day.
