The NBA, the most prestigious basketball league in the world, has given its approval to the sale of the Dallas Mavericks. This is, among others, the club of star player Luka Doncic. Billionaire Mark Cuban (65) sells his shares to the families behind the Las Vegas Sands Corporation casino group. The amount? This is a figure well above 3 billion euros.
Billionaire Mark Cuban has owned the majority of the Mavericks’ shares since January 2000. More than 20 years ago he bought the Dallas team for around 250 million euros. By bringing in star players like Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavericks have grown tremendously. In 2011, Nowitzki and company achieved their crowning achievement by winning the NBA title.
In 2023 the Mavericks are still among the top, with the Slovenian Luka Doncic on the team. He is already defined as the best European ever in the American basketball competition and is also a good friend of Thibaut Courtois.

Mark Cuban has decided to sell 73% of his shares. According to American media, he will receive 3.5 billion dollars (3.2 billion euros) for this. Cuban remains a 27% owner of the club and therefore maintains operational control. The new main shareholders? Those are the families of Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont. Adelson (78) is the widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson. According to the business magazine Forbes she is the fifth richest woman in the world. Adelson owns Las Vegas Sands Corporation, a company that operates major casinos in Singapore and Macau.

Patrick Dumont is Adelson’s son-in-law and will take over as CEO of the Mavericks. The club itself confirmed this in a statement. The entire sales process is expected to be completed by the end of the week. The news of the club’s sale was announced publicly a month ago.
Now also spotted in Miami: Thibaut Courtois and Mishel will even be present at the NBA show on Christmas Day
