Military withdraws from Bolivian presidential headquarters after attempted coup d’état

The heavily armed soldiers who knocked down the doors of the Bolivian Government headquarters with a tank under the command of the former general commander of the Bolivian Army, Juan José Zuñiga, decided to withdraw after the Bolivian president, Luis Arce, changed his position. the entire military high command after what he considered an “attempted coup d’état.”

Zuñiga, who threatened in a message to change the “government cabinet” to “establish” democracy in Bolivia, led the mobilization of a group of soldiers, which President Luis Arce considered an “attempted coup d’état.”

A tank knocked down the door of the Casa Grande del Pueblo, headquarters of the Government of Bolivia in the city of La Paz. Zuñiga, together with a military group, entered for seven minutes and then left.

Zuñiga, upon leaving the Executive headquarters, told the media that he would release “all political prisoners,” including former interim president Jeanine Añez, opposition governor Luis Fernando Camacho and “all military prisoners.”

Since this Tuesday there were some rumors about the supposed dismissal of Zuñiga and other high military commanders.

President Arce confronted Zuñiga at the door of the Casa Grande del Pueblo, headquarters of the Government, and ordered him to “withdraw” the military that accompanied him.

“Retreat all these forces is an order,” Luis Arce shouted at Zuñiga.

Later the tanks and the group of the Armed Forces withdrew.
