On May 21, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, met with the delegation led by the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, Army General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, who is on an official visit to our country.

It was reported that before the meeting, the graves of the National Leader of our people Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, as well as the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrdom were visited, wreaths and bouquets of flowers were laid, and deep respect and honor were shown to their memories.
Minister of Defense Colonel-General Z. Hasanov received the Turkish delegation. Welcoming the guests, the defense minister said he was happy to see them in our country. He noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey are based on friendly and brotherly relations. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev spoke about the positive results of the reforms carried out in the Azerbaijan Army.
Army General S. Bayraktaroglu expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown. Both brothers stressed the importance of such meetings in the direction of the development of the country’s military cooperation.
The meeting also discussed the development prospects of cooperation in the military, military-technical field and regional security issues.
Then the Turkish delegation met with the First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel-General Karim Valiyev, and the Advisor to the Minister of Defense, Colonel-General Bakhtiyar Ersay.
During the meetings held at the Headquarters of the Azerbaijan Army, satisfaction was expressed with the current state of Azerbaijan-Turkey military cooperation based on mutual trust, confidence and support.
The Turkish guests visited the headquarters of the Ground Forces as part of the official visit. A ceremonial welcome ceremony was held at the headquarters. After the passage in front of the honor guard, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Anthem of the Republic of Turkey were played, and the “Book of Honor” was signed in accordance with the protocol.
Deputy Minister of Defense – Commander of the Ground Forces Lieutenant General Hikmat Mirzayev met with the Turkish delegation.
At the meeting, the importance of conducting joint military exercises for the purpose of increasing the professionalism of the military personnel of both brotherly countries, as well as exchanging mutual experience, was emphasized, and detailed views were exchanged on a number of other issues.
