Milei’s chief of staff resigns, alleging “difference in criteria”

The chief of staff of ministers of the Argentine Executive, Nicolás Posse, presented his resignation from the position due to “difference in criteria and expectations” with the president, Javier Milei, official sources reported this Monday.

“This decision was motivated by the difference in criteria and expectations in the progress of the Government and the tasks entrusted to it,” indicated the official statement from the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, which added that Posse “will continue to accompany, as from day one, the ideas of freedom, the defense of life and property, and the project of a free Argentina” from “a new role.”

The text also reported on the “orderly transition” that will begin this week with the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos, who will assume the role from this moment on.

With just a few minutes of difference, the Office of the President of Argentina – which issues the president’s official notes – shared on social networks a text about Posse’s resignation to immediately give all the prominence to Francos, of whom, he said, he will take over. the position “with the objective of providing greater political volume to the Chief of Staff.”

“Francos will contribute his professionalism, experience and political capacity to the Chief of Staff after successfully holding the position of Minister of the Interior, having been one of the architects of the feat that brought Javier Milei to the Presidency, and being recognized by all the political forces for their management capacity and consensus,” stated the Presidential Office.

The news of Posse’s resignation closes a week of rumors and speculation about his possible departure from the Executive; The president himself had asserted in an interview and, later, his spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, had confirmed it, that all the members of the cabinet were under Milei’s magnifying glass.

Both statements were released just a few minutes before the libertarian politician embarked on a new trip to the United States, the fourth since he assumed the Presidency on December 10, in which he will have contact with representatives of technology companies, including the CEO of Goal, Mark Zuckerberg.

Before returning to Argentina, he will attend the inauguration of Nayib Bukele’s second presidential term in El Salvador, in what marks his first visit to a Latin American country since his administration began.
