Mikel Arteta: Arsenal Makes It Hard for Themselves

Mikel Arteta said his team made things difficult for himself. This confession was made when Arsenal was only able to win narrowly 3-2 over Tottenham Hotspur in the match entitled London Derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday (28/4/2024) evening WIB.

In this match, Arsenal had a 3-0 lead in the first half scored by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Og 15′), Bukayo Saka (27′), and Kai Havertz (38′). But after halftime, Tottenham was able to reduce the position through goals scored by Cristian Romero (64′) and Son Heung-min (pen 87′).

The victory over Tottenham made Arsenal top of the standings with 80 points from 35 matches. The London Cannon is one point ahead of Man City in second place, who have only played 34 matches.

Meanwhile, Arteta said Arsenal players know that every match must be won because they are in competition for the Premier League title. Apart from that, he explained that big teams experienced difficulties when playing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“You come here knowing that you have to win every game. You (try) to win the league. You come to your rivals in this place, where you know what has happened to the other big teams here, and “You have to appear and win the match,” said Mikel Arteta, quoted from Arsenal’s official website, Monday (29/4/2024).

Despite winning, Mikel Arteta said Arsenal made things difficult for themselves. Because, he considered his team was able to control the game to lead 3-0 in the first half but appeared less convincing in the second half.

“It felt like we had made things difficult for ourselves, especially the way we started the game and the control we had with the score at 3-0 and the way we performed in the second half,” he continued.

Meanwhile, in the next match, Arsenal has the opportunity to win again. Because, Arsenal will face Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (4/5/2024).
