According to the U.S. Air Force, the B-2 Spirit—which is reserved for only the most critical missions—is ready to carry out global strikes anytime and anywhere.
In a spectacular display of American air power, nearly the entire B-2 Spirit fleet was displayed at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, last week.
The B-2 Spirit is a multi-role heavy bomber capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear warheads.
The 1,000 kilometer per hour aircraft is designed to be invisible to radar and is the world’s most expensive aircraft, estimated to cost £1.6 billion (more than IDR 32 trillion) per unit.
The two-pilot aircraft has an unfueled range of 6,000 miles and was specifically built for intercontinental missions.
As tensions rose earlier this week when Israel vowed a “significant response” to an Iranian airstrike on April 14, the US was testing the stealth bombers.
Twelve of the entire fleet of 20 B-2 Spirits performed the so-called “elephant walk” and terrifying flight routine.
The rarely seen aircraft was assembled as part of the “Spirit Vigilance” exercise focused on increasing airmen’s readiness to carry out stealth bomber missions.
