San Diego, California – From June 3 to 6, 2024, the Mexican pharmaceutical industry stood out once again in the BIO International Convention, the most relevant event of the biotechnology sector at a global level. This meeting, held in the San Diego Convention Centerbrings together more than 1,100 biotech companiesacademic institutions and key actors from more than 60 countries.
The Mexican delegation is led by the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) of the Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE) and is made up of representatives of prominent institutes and companies in the sector biotechnologicalas UDIBI, Epic-croPiSA Pharmaceuticals, New Genesis, an organ, Pragmatec, Red OTT or the Tijuana Economic Development Corporation.
Through the SRE and of Consulate General of Mexico in San DiegoCalifornia, the Mexican delegation participates for the third time in the Bio International Convention 2024, reaffirming its commitment and presence in the global biotechnology scenariosince currently, the global biotechnology sector represents around 412,000 million dollars, with an annual growth of 12.3 percent in the last three years.

The inauguration ceremony of the Mexican pavilion was headed by the consul general of Mexico in San Diego, Alicia Kerber Palma; the general director of Global Economic Impulse of the SRE, Rodrigo Morales Castillo; and the members of the Executive Committee: Carlos Castilloplanning director of AMEXCID, Sonia Mayra Pérez Tapia of the Interdisciplinary Professional Unit of Biotechnology of the National Polytechnic Institute; and Octavio García from Grupo T.
Mexico’s participation in the convention reaffirms its position as a relevant actor and strategic in the panorama of the investigation and the biotechnology worldwide, as it occupies the third place of relevance in this industry Latin America, and focuses on Mexican companies as strategic actors for North America.
