Messi expects to retire with a Miami shirt

Lionel Messi, the star and captain of the Argentine national team (Tango Dancers), announced that he will end his football career with the jersey of his current American club, Inter Miami.

Messi, winner of the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the tournament’s best player award, said in an interview with ESPN on Wednesday: “Inter Miami will be my last team.”

The veteran player added: “I am not ready to give up football. I love it and have played it all my life, and I enjoy training and matches every day.”

The former Spanish Barcelona star added: “I always feel afraid of the moment of the end. “I realize that the time is approaching, and everything will end, but I am currently having a good time.”

Messi concluded his statement by saying: “I am currently enjoying the small details that I will miss when I retire from football.”

37-year-old Messi joined Inter Miami in the summer of 2023 and signed a two-year contract.

The Argentine star joined the American team as a free transfer after his contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain expired on June 30, 2023.
