A mechho tiger of a rare species has been spotted in Chihadharchar village of Bhanga Paur Sadar, Faridpur. However, a team of forest department from Faridpur tried to rescue the tiger from afternoon till night on Monday (March 11) but failed to capture the tiger.
From morning to night on Monday (March 11), eager people from the area thronged to see the Mechho Bagh. Then after capturing the tiger, the rope suddenly fell from its neck. Later the tiger climbed about 60 feet up the tree. The forest department team tried to rescue from afternoon till night and finally came back.
According to local sources, a medium-sized tiger with patches of stripes on its body entered the locality forgetting its hideout. Later some dogs chased the tiger. Undeterred, the tiger took shelter in a raintree tree about eighty feet high. Local people, police administration, Upazila Parishad, Faridpur District Forest Department tried and failed. On receiving the information, a team of forest department from Faridpur reached the spot in the afternoon and first tried to rescue them but they failed till evening. In the meantime, the tiger climbed up the tree due to the crowd and rescuers’ efforts.
After 9:30 p.m., a team of Animal Rescues Bangladesh (ARB) in Dhaka tried to rescue the tiger at the spot for about one and a half hours but were unable to rescue it.
Local businessman Samrat Molla said that while local people were passing through the road on Monday morning, they saw a mechho tiger about 40 feet above the raintree tree in the garden of advocate Asaduzzaman Rana of Lihadharchar village of the municipal headquarters. Then when the news spread, eager crowds flocked to catch a glimpse of the tiger.
Limon, a member of Animal Rescues Bangladesh (ARB), said that after trying for about an hour and a half, we brought the Mecho tiger down but the tiger escaped. According to me, the tiger was quite big.
Bhanga Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Khalid Hasan said that the police reached the spot after receiving information. But finally the tiger could not be rescued from any place. However, police are working at the spot to control the crowd and maintain law and order.
Bhanga Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) ABM Kudrat A Khuda said that Bhanga Fire Service and Bhanga Police Station were informed after receiving the information. Police went to the spot. But since there are some restrictions in the rescue of these animals by the fire service, the help of the forest department is taken.
In this regard, Faruk Sardar, assistant officer of Bhanga Forest Department, said that a team from Faridpur went to rescue the mechho tiger. After capturing the tiger, suddenly the rope falls from its neck. Later the tiger climbed about 60 feet up the tree. In this situation we left after evening.
In this regard, Zahidul Islam, ranger of the Faridpur Forest Division’s range office, said that this is a rare species of mechho tiger. We first climbed the tree and tried to trap the tiger. Later it climbs the tree at a height of about 60 feet. Tried not able to stop the tiger from so high.
