Measurement for Health Campaign in Izmir

In Izmir, teams measure the height and weight of citizens within the scope of the “Learn Your Ideal Weight, Live Healthy” campaign of the Ministry of Health.

Provincial Health Directorate teams carry out work by setting up stands in areas where citizens are concentrated, such as parks, squares, shopping malls, marketplaces, university campuses and mosques throughout the city.

Teams calculate citizens’ body mass index by measuring their height and body weight, and provide information about healthy living.

In line with the data obtained, those with high body mass index values ​​are directed to healthy life centers and family health centers.

Izmir Provincial Health Director Burak Öztop visited a stand set up in a shopping mall in Balçova and gave information about the harms of obesity.

Regarding the importance of the “Learn Your Ideal Weight, Live Healthy” campaign launched by the Ministry of Health, Öztop said:

“Within the scope of Turkey’s Fight Against Obesity and Physical Activity Action Plan, a new field campaign has been launched across the country on the ’10 May Move for World Health’ day, under the leadership of our Ministry. Within the scope of the ‘Learn Your Ideal Weight, Live Healthy’ campaign, height and body weight measurements are made, body mass index is calculated and individuals are informed about healthy living and guided according to the results. In the first 5 days of the campaign, 19 thousand 838 people were reached. 10 It is aimed to reach 525 thousand citizens throughout Izmir by the end of the campaign, which will end in July.”
