MD3 Law Enters Priority Prolegnas, Dasco Reveals Who Proposed It

JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, spoke about the inclusion of the revision of Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPRD, and DPD ( UU MD3 ) in the list of priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) last April. He also revealed the person who proposed it.

“That was the request from Mr. Said PDIP, to include the MD3 Law (into the priority Prolegnas),” said Dasco as quoted on Friday (2/8/2024).

Dasco explained that Said’s request as Chairman of the DPR Budget Agency (Banggar) was due to the need for several articles to be changed related to financial matters.

However, along the way, the majority agreed not to discuss or revise the MD3 Law as requested by Said Abdullah.

“But then because we were afraid, worried, that if we rolled out MD3, undesirable things would happen, we mutually agreed to do it later, right? That wasn’t our request, that was Mr. Said Abdullah’s request,” he said.

The Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP ensured that the revision of the MD3 Law, which has been included in the priority Prolegnas, will not be discussed in the upcoming session.

“We haven’t done it since yesterday,” he concluded.
