According to a survey conducted by the analytics company YouGov, in 2022 it was revealed once and for all that 1 in 5 Norwegians cannot tolerate pineapple on pizza.
In fact, many Norwegians are furious at the thought of combining the sour, sweet fruit with heat processing and fast food.

He raises his eyebrows
With this in mind, it’s probably safe to say that McDonald’s latest launch won’t appeal to (at least) 1 in 5 Norwegians:
Their new summer menu will contain more tropical ideas, where pineapple plays the main role.
And according to the Australian newspaper News – according to which the sensational menu will be available in the country as early as January 10th – the fried pineapple rings are the novelty that is really catching on.

– Never in my life if I touch it there!
This is one of many scathing comments that appeared on social media after news of McDonald’s summer menu hit Australian newspapers.
– This is my worst nightmare, another one rages.
Images of the fast food chain’s pineapple-infested dishes and desserts have gone viral in recent days. And although many are rubbing their hands and very happy with what awaits them, it is not surprising that many also vent their frustration after the tropical phase.

– EVERYTHING is wrong with this. Pineapple has nothing to do with “mækkern”, writes a frustrated follower on Instagram.
The follower noted that McDonald’s, in addition to serving fried pineapple rings, where a crispy, fried crust meets a hot, sweet pineapple inside, can also tempt (or swear) with ice cream dipped in hot, cold pineapple sauce pieces of pineapple.
– This is swearing in church, continues the follower.

– Can not wait for
McDonald’s Australia marketing director Samantha McLeod tells Daily News that new additions to the menu are the latest talking point this year.
– These will be super snacks. We can’t wait, she tells the newspaper.
But regardless of whether Norwegians tear their hair out or jump onto the roof at the news of the pineapple, it seems that reactions may be on hold in this country:
McDonald’s Norway press officer Kristina Johansen tells Dagbladet that there are no plans to launch the fried pineapple in Norway.
– We can promise our Norwegian guests that we will present more new and exciting products – but what and when, of course, we cannot reveal, he says in conclusion.
