The results of the MBBS admission test for the academic year 2023-24 have been declared in government-private medical colleges. The pass rate in this year’s admission test is 47.83 percent. That is, 49 thousand 923 people have passed.
Sunday (February 11) in the building of the old Department of Health in Mohakhali officially announced the results of the Minister of Health and Family Welfare Professor Dr. Samant Lal Sen.
The minister said that the pass mark in the examination was fixed at 40 percent like the previous year. Based on this, a total of 49 thousand 923 people passed the entrance exam. This year’s pass rate is 47.83 percent. Among them, there were 20 thousand 457 male candidates which is 40.98 percent of the passed candidates.
The MBBS admission test for the academic year 2023-2024 was held on February 9. This year students will be admitted to 5 thousand 380 seats of 37 government medical colleges and 6 thousand 295 seats of 67 approved private medical colleges.
According to the policy made by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council, 5380 people (5072 people in Merit Quota, 569 people in 5 percent Freedom Fighter Quota) and 5380 people in order of merit based on the score obtained by adding the marks obtained in SAC/Equivalent and HSC/Equivalent GPA in the admission test. (39) candidates from seats reserved for backward communities are preliminarily selected for admission to 37 government medical colleges.
A total of 1 lakh 4 thousand 374 students applied for admission in this academic year. Among them 1 lakh two thousand 369 participated in the admission test. 2005 applicants were absent in the admission test. The absenteeism rate is 1.92 percent.
The pass mark in the examination was fixed at 40 percent as in the previous year. Based on this, a total of 49 thousand 923 people passed the entrance exam. Out of the pass rate of 47.83 percent, there were 20 thousand 457 male candidates which is 40.98 percent of the passed candidates. Number of passed women candidates: 29 thousand 466 which is 59.02 percent of the passed candidates.
Among the candidates selected for the 5 thousand 380 seats of the Government Medical College, the number of candidates who passed the HSC examination in 2023 is 4 thousand 347 and the number of candidates who passed the HSC examination last year i.e. 2022 is 1003. Among the students admitted in Government Medical Colleges/Dental Colleges/Units for the academic year 2022-2023, the number of successful students in the admission test this year: 30.
Among the total 5 thousand 380 government seats, the number of male candidates is 2 thousand 312 and the number of female students is 3068. Among the 5072 seats of merit quota, the number of male candidates is 2 thousand 194 (43.26 percent) and the number of female candidates is 2 thousand 878 (56.74 percent). 269 students were selected as 5 percent of the total number of seats in Mukti Jodha quota and 39 students were selected in the quota reserved for minorities.
