The Second Environmental Court ruled against the installation of the Google Data Center in the commune of Cerrillos, which consists of an investment of 200 million dollars. The measure was celebrated by the mayor (S) of Cerrillos, Verónica Montecinos.
Specifically, the ruling refers to the use of the water reserves they have in the Central Santiago Aquifer for cooling technological equipment. The court concluded that the environmental evaluation did not adequately rule out the significant impacts of the project on water resourcesestimating that the project goes against the preventive principle and the very purpose of an Environmental Impact Statement.
