“Mawazine” is an important station… and Arabic music is not in the best condition

Lebanese musician Marwan Khoury will take to the stage of Mohammed V Theater in Rabat tonight, Wednesday, to embrace his fans for the third time as part of the activities of the 19th session of the Mawazine Festival.

During a press conference on the sidelines of his participation in the festival, Marwan Khoury expressed his great pride in participating in this global artistic event, saying: “There is no doubt that I, like any other artist, hope to participate in a festival of the size and magnitude of Mawazine, which hosts great artists from all countries of the world, and is an important and necessary stop for every artist.”

He added that he does not consider himself elitist, “but I try to continue and stay in touch with the new generation, because it is one that has taste in music, and is keen to preserve the music it presents.”

Khoury said that “Arabic music today is not in its best condition,” praising the distinction of Moroccan music and the young people who have excelled in it and benefit from the Kingdom’s musical stock, such as Saad Lamjarred, whom he considered “a star who took a step that is not easy for his generation,” wishing them success and continuity for Moroccan youth.

The owner of “Kol Al Qasaid” continued that there is communication between him and the Moroccan artist Jannat Mahid in order to work on a duet between them, indicating that he is a fan of her voice and that he loves the duet and loves to share another feeling and another audience, an experience that he deepened through his program “Tarab with Marwan.” .

Regarding his late marriage, Marwan Khoury said: “I had a position on marriage and I was waiting for the right circumstances and timing, but after I got married I realized that I did the right thing,” stressing that he is happy with his wife even though he lost a little of his freedom, but he gained love, stability and security.

Regarding presenting an artistic work about Palestine, Khoury responded that “the events taking place are very painful, and a song about Palestine is smaller than the genocide they are experiencing,” adding that he is against all of that and against the artist declaring his political affiliation unless the issue is Palestine.
