Maule students will participate in civic training workshops given by the Senate

More than a hundred students, from 7th grade to 4th year of high school, belonging to six schools in the Maule region, will participate -from Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st August- in the workshop “Legislative Power and the Formation of Law”an interactive activity that will be taught by Senate officials and that seeks to contribute to the educational process of the country’s students.

Legislators from the Maule region will also be present at this workshop, which was created by the Senate’s Citizen Engagement Unit. They will share their experiences and answer the questions of the students who will participate in this meeting.

The activity, taught by lawyers who work in legislative committees and the Senate Secretariat, aims to help students learn about the powers of the State and, in particular, the Legislative Branch, through activities where they can apply this knowledge, becoming senators, creating, debating and voting on their own bills.

The participating educational institutions in the Maule region are: the Darío E. Salas school in Talca; the Leonardo Da Vinci school in San Javier; the Alta Cumbre school in Curicó; the Salesianos school in Linares; the Juan de Dios Puga high school in Yerbas Buenas; and the Comprehensive High School in Molina.

This 2024, the Senate has held workshops in the region of Aysen and Los Rios. In the month of August It will be the turn of Maule and Tarapaca. In September and Octoberworkshops will be held in the regions of The Araucania and Atacamarespectively.

It is worth noting that this workshop “Legislative Power and the Formation of Law” It is one of the six mechanisms for citizen engagement available to the Senate. The others are: Senate in your Room, Virtual Congress, Senators for a day, guided tours and a platform for citizen consultations.
