Matthew Perry would be celebrating 55: A touching memory of friends

Matthew Perry he is no longer with us for almost a year to celebrate his birthday, but his memory lives on. On Monday, August 19, the date of the actor’s birth, he gave up the series’ official profile on Instagram Friends tribute to this late star. “On this day we remember the light that was Matthew Perry,” was written in the post, highlighting that despite the actor going through some very dark times in his life, thanks to his role as the sarcastic Chandler on the sitcom Friends became a light for many other people around the world.

Many of his loved ones also went to remember the old friend, who visited the actor’s grave in Burbank, California on his birthday to leave flowers and messages.

The actor tragically left us on October 28, 2023. He was found dead in a hot tub after an overdose of ketamine. This very sad event shocked not only his loved ones, but also the general public. He drank for the first time at fourteen

Matthew Perry struggled with alcohol addiction from an early age and became addicted to pills after a jet ski accident at the age of twenty-eight. He was in severe pain from the injury and was prescribed the highly addictive drug Vicodin. He then visited rehab several times throughout his life and seemed to be doing better in recent years. However, the shadow of his addiction eventually caught up with him and also became the cause of his death.

However, the cause of the actor’s sudden death has been under investigation for a long time, and only now do we have information about how Perry got into drugs and who contributed to his death. Ten months after Perry’s death, five people were arrested for allegedly supplying him with the ketamine that led to his overdose. The unfortunate thing is that among them were the people who were supposed to look out for Perry’s well-being, namely his assistant and producer.

The prosecutor in that case condemned their actions, stressing that these people used Perry’s lifelong struggle with addiction for their own gain. “Ultimately, the defendants were more interested in making money off of Mr. Perry than they were in his welfare.” said the prosecutor.
