Massive accident in Holguín leaves 29 injured

MEXICO CITY, Mexico.- A traffic accident that occurred this Tuesday morning in Holguín left 29 people injured, according to the local official newspaper. Now.

The accident involving a truck with 30 passengers occurred in the Siboney area, via Bayamo, between Cacocum and Yaguabo, and the causes of it are being investigated.

According to local reporters, the incident occurred when a private truck transporting passengers that covered the Holguín-Bayamo route left the road after one of the tires exploded.

Emergency services immediately transferred the passengers to nearby hospitals; In the Lucía Íñiguez Landín clinical surgical hospital there are 28 of the injured and a pregnant woman of more than 25 weeks of gestation was transferred to the Perinatology ward of the Vladimir Ilich Lenin university hospital.

Of those hospitalized at the Lucía Íñiguez Landín, five are code red, that is, in serious condition. One of the patients has a bone pelvis fracture.

At the end of 2023, a woman died and eight people were injured, including three children, in an accident that occurred in Levisa, in front of the Combinado Lácteo bridge, in the Holguín municipality of Mayarí.

The incident occurred when a Jeep with nine people on board had an accident due to the wet pavement, according to what was revealed on the official Facebook profile “Realidades desde Holguín”.

The vehicle was headed to Calabazas, in Sagua de Tánamo, and came from Havana, when the driver lost control and overturned, presumably due to the slippery asphalt.
