The marketing process for legal cannabis products will be launched for the first time in Morocco, coinciding with the International Agricultural Exhibition in Meknes, which will be held on April 22.
According to data obtained by Hespress, investors and actors in the field of producing legal cannabis products, in cooperation with the National Agency for the Legalization of Activities Related to Indian Cannabis, will have two halls allocated to them at the exhibition expected to be organized from April 22 to 28.
According to the same data, the matter concerns various CBD CANABIS products, including cosmetics, nutritional supplements, and agricultural foods, as they passed through the various legal stages of production all the way to the marketing stage.
An official source confirmed to Hespress that the products that will be sold at the expected exhibition passed various legal procedures and obtained the necessary licenses before their sale was approved.
An investor and company owner said in a statement to Hespress: “The current stage comes after making great strides and important efforts, whether with the National Agency for the Legalization of Activities Related to Indian Hemp or the Ministry of Agriculture and the Medicines Directorate. And also after working with a recognized laboratory to produce these products.”
The investor, who preferred to remain anonymous, said: “The start will be from the exhibition, and we are ready, whether at the national level or abroad,” adding: “Today the picture will be clear for those who wonder about Indian hemp, while removing the idea that hemp only produces drugs.”
The products that will be marketed are the result of the production of the first legal cannabis crop in Morocco, as in 2023 an area of 277 hectares was cultivated for the benefit of 32 production cooperatives that include 416 farmers. Last year, the agency approved 2.1 million cannabis seeds to carry out this operation, based on 21 import licenses granted by the National Office for Health Safety of Food Products and registered at the customs level.
Moroccan cannabis products were previously displayed during the international trade fair for cannabis and medicinal herbs “Cannafest,” which was organized in Prague last November, but without being sold. At that time, exceptional licenses were granted to three cooperatives and three investors to offer products made from Moroccan cannabis on the condition that they do not sell.
In the aforementioned exhibition, samples of more than ten Moroccan products were displayed that obtained an exceptional license from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, not to mention licenses from the National Agency for the Legalization of Activities Related to Marijuana and the National Office for the Sanitary Safety of Food Products.
