Maria Karystianou / Fierce attack on ERT’s silence – Mr. Zoula, you are not paid by ND funds

“Another day of shame for the ‘independence’ of the press. In a country that is under surveillance for the destruction of the Rule of Law….

On Wednesday, a grand movement of citizens took place, in collaboration with legal institutions.

The initiative born out of the crime of Tempe and supported by 1,500,000 Greeks, was legally supported by the Plenary of Lawyers of Greece.

Specifically, in the DSA room they met:

1. Relatives of Tempe victims, representing 1,500,000 CITIZENS

2. The President of the Plenary of Lawyers.

3. The Honorary Vice President of the CoE

4. Professors of Constitutional Law

5. Representatives of parties of the constitutional arc who were placed on the proposed law.

6. Representatives of the Greek and foreign press.

For the first time, the amendment of the law on the responsibility of ministers was requested through the right of popular legislative initiative, as provided for in article 73 par. 6 of the Constitution.

Considering the response of the journalists, questions reasonably arise.

Why was the matter hushed up, even by the State Television?

It was preceded by a party complaint and immediately afterwards they were forced to refer to the held Press Conference for 10 seconds. This fact neutralizes even the slightest possibility of talking about independent information.

Mr. Zoula, by what right did you decide not to refer to such an important citizens’ initiative?

Do you have the impression that such a move does not concern every Greek citizen? Do you consider it trivial, offensive, malignant?

Who chooses what concerns society and what does not?

With what logic was it decided that the issue does not concern Greek citizens?

Who oversees whether your administration is operating impartially as it should?

Do you think that personal – individual political ideologies, relationships, collaborations and ambitions, are ethical to be expressed biasedly through the state television of a country?

If not, how are these unethical practices addressed in order to protect society?

Based on the fact that you have dealt (in total time), with the tragic event in Tempe, less than the channels of the foreign press have dealt with, there is no doubt that you are following specific orders from the Government.

Given this truth, why are you paid by the Greek taxpayers and not by the coffers of the ND?

Shouldn’t the state television, whose resources come from the Greek taxpayers, address every citizen, be distanced from established interests and provide complete and unbiased information? Regardless of personal criteria, interests or whether the ERT administration likes it or not?

If the information of an entire people by the Greek Public Television works based on the interests of specific politicians, it is fair that the payment should be made by the principals, otherwise it is a clear mockery to our face.

We are now very active in mockery.

You underestimate our intelligence and institutions.

Support for events that concern the majority of society, such as the issue of Tempe, we have to ask, of course, also from the private channels from the moment that public money (is it legal?) ends up in their coffers.

For the information of the citizens and as a reminder to the ERT Administration, we mention some of the principles of its operation.
