“Pure adrenaline. I crossed the finish line, I looked up at the distinctive tower, to see who had won. And I saw 1, 89, 93. I didn’t know I was third. “It was a double injection of adrenaline,” said Marquez, reported by Motosan, Monday (27/5/2024).
Marquez started the race from 14th position after performing poorly in the qualifying session Catalunya MotoGP 2024. However, The Baby Alien -Marc Marquez’s nickname- was able to get the third podium at the Catalunya Circuit, Barcelona, Spain, on Sunday (26/5/2024).
Marquez admitted that he didn’t have much sweet experience at the Catalunya Circuit. Therefore, the 31 year old racer had to fight hard when he found out he was starting from 14th on the grid.
“This is a circuit that has stuck with me since 2013. Yes, I have achieved good results, but it was difficult for me. And we both started 14th position,” said Marquez.
“I didn’t start well and I had to overtake and trust my potential throughout the race. And I think this has made a difference in the end,” he explained.
At the last moment before claiming the podium, Marquez had to beat Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing). Feeling bad because this is his last season in MotoGP, Marquez apologized to Espargaro.
“But it was difficult for me to maintain that position with Aleix. “With poor Aleix, who also deserves to be on the podium, because this is his last race in Catalunya,” concluded Marquez.
