Marc Marquez Crashes in 2024 German MotoGP, Broken Finger and Bruised Ribs

HOHENSTEIN-ERNSTTHAL – Gresini Ducati rider, Marc Marquez had an accident in the 2024 German MotoGP practice session. Marquez, who fell, suffered a broken finger and bruises on his ribs.

Marc Marquez ended the practice session in 13th position at the Sachsenring Circuit, Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany on Friday (5/7/2024). The racer nicknamed The Baby Alien fell when passing the 11th corner.

In the replay, Marquez was seen thrown so hard because the front tire of his bike slipped. The 31-year-old rider was momentarily stunned after falling but eventually managed to get up.

After the accident, Marquez was still happy with his bike’s performance. However, The Baby Alien admitted to being worried about his condition because he suffered a broken finger and bruised ribs.

“The sensation with the bike was good, but obviously the fall this afternoon had a big impact on the first day here at the Sachsenring,” said Marquez as reported by Motosan, Saturday (6/7/2024).

“I wasn’t worried about the broken finger, but the bruised ribs were definitely the ones that bothered me the most and also prevented me from continuing the session,” he continued.

Marquez hopes to be in prime condition ahead of the 2024 German MotoGP. Before the main race, there are four sessions that Marquez will take part in, namely the second free practice (FP2), Qualification 1 (Q1), Qualification 2 (Q2), and the Sprint Race today.

“Now it’s time to rest and tomorrow morning we’ll see how my physical condition is,” said Marquez.

Meanwhile, Marc Marquez himself is known as the king of the Sachsenring Circuit. He is recorded as the MotoGP racer with the most wins (8) on the race track.
