On the 5th day of Lunar New Year 2024 (February 13), Ms. Gia Ngoc (District 6, Ho Chi Minh City) had many red pimples on her face and her hands were swollen, itchy, and red.
“I just returned home from a spring trip to the West. My skin started to become red and itchy. I went to the doctor and applied medicine so my skin condition was better” – Ms. Ngoc shared.
Not only Ms. Ngoc, but many other people also have skin problems after the Lunar New Year holiday.
Recorded at Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital, in just the first 2 days after the Tet holiday (February 15-16, January 6-7), the unit received more than 6,000 cases for medical examination.
Among them, the most common is atopic dermatitis. Then there are some chronic diseases (psoriasis, acne), sexually transmitted diseases and performing internal cosmetic techniques.
According to Dr. Bui Manh Ha – Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital, in the first days after the Tet holiday, the number of patients coming for examination increased. Before Tet, the number of daily medical examinations was about 2,000.
Moving to many places, exposure to many different spaces and environments, and a diet rich in sweets and fatty foods during Tet are the main causes of outbreaks of atopic dermatitis.
Besides, Tet holiday with many outdoor activities can affect skin health. Therefore, the need to care for and restore skin after Tet also increases. Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital recommends that people should have a reasonable diet and skin care. If you see any unusual signs or have pre-existing skin diseases and the condition is more severe, you need to go to a hospital with a dermatology specialist as soon as possible to be examined by a doctor and have timely treatment to avoid more serious disease.
