Many food poisoning cases in Khanh Hoa are difficult to determine the cause

From the beginning of the year until now, in Khanh Hoa province, there have been 5 consecutive cases with nearly 500 people suffering from food poisoning and 1 death. Many poisoning cases occur but it is difficult for authorities to determine the cause.

After a series of poisoning cases occurred in the area, Khanh Hoa province organized a peak inspection on food hygiene and safety. In the past half month, Nha Trang city inspected 31 food production establishments, 72 food business establishments, 308 food service establishments and 360 street food establishments.

Mr. Luu Thanh Nhan, Standing Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People’s Committee, said: “8 establishments have been fined for administrative violations of more than 60 million VND, and establishments that do not meet hygiene and safety conditions are temporarily suspended. food production until these establishments fix and fully supplement the conditions to ensure food safety and hygiene in accordance with regulations. In the coming time, the delegations will continue to strengthen inspection and enforcement work strictly handle violations”.

Among the 5 food poisoning cases in the area, the case of 369 people being poisoned at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant, Nha Trang city, the cause was determined to be Salmonella bacteria. The remaining 4 cases occurred at schools in Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Son district and Nha Trang city. The common point of these poisoning cases is that the students all used food sold around the school, of unknown origin. Authorities are still investigating and finding out the cause.

Regarding the case of a 5th grade student at Vinh Truong Primary School, Nha Trang city, who died outside the hospital, the cause is unknown after having breakfast in front of the school gate, the authorities conducted an autopsy and sent samples to the city. HCM to do tests to find the cause and are waiting for the results.

Doctor Le Van Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Khanh Hoa province, said that the investigation agency is continuing to investigate the cause of poisoning cases: “Many causes lead to food poisoning. Training has been provided to the doctors.” Business owners and street food business owners, however, if business owners do not do it right or intentionally do it incorrectly, poisoning often occurs in hot weather, climate change, and microbiology is very easy cause disease, especially through food.”
