Manuel Turizo finds ‘Ecstasy’ in the little things in his life

The Colombian singer Manuel Turizo has been able to recognize that in his life it is the small moments that fill him with satisfaction, so, inspired by that, he presents this Friday “Éxtasis”, a song with the Argentine María Becerra.

“I wanted to show a story of what I feel the majority of the world lives through, that they struggle to be able to pay their bills and continue to survive, and also the moments of happiness and ecstasy that we have, which are actually very simple moments,” explained the singer in interview with EFE.

The music video begins with a real home recording that shows Manuel as a child singing a song about colors in Spanish and English, while his mother’s voice is heard in the background, and his brother Julián gives him a kiss.

Afterwards, a fictional part begins in which two children represent Becerra and Turizo, and narrate a story of childhood and adult love crossed by difficult times due to lack of money and an eviction notice from their home.

The song is part of his album “2000”, which has not yet been released in its entirety, and reinforces the singer’s interest in showing in a more intimate way his story and the sound exploration he has developed about the music he listened to in his childhood.

“This album is very personal, from my influences and I wanted to tell Manuel’s story in every little bit,” he said about the material, of which songs such as “La Bachata” are already known.

As Turizo explains, “Éxtasis” was born “from the unconscious” without much work and in a very everyday moment.

“It’s an Afrobeat, it was a song we made in the dining room of my house. Talking and talking it started to come out, there are literally times when the songs are only in your head and they start to come out,” she explained.

It was later that he felt that the tone of the song could be shared with a woman and mainly with the voice of a singer like “La nena de argentina”, María Becerra.

“In those days when we were making the song I heard a song by María and she has a very beautiful, spectacular voice, and I thought that there could be a very nice vibe between man and woman in the song,” he commented.

Although the chemistry between the two is undeniable in the video, Turizo and Becerra met that same day of recording.

“He is a very transparent and real person and I liked him very much,” he confessed.

Turizo will be in Mexico to present a concert within the framework of the National Balloon Fair in Jardines de México on November 5.
