Man with stab wound dies after doctors clash

In the Kostroma region, a man with a stab wound to the heart was saved during a very difficult operation. But immediately after this, the surgeon was suspended from treatment, and a new team of doctors from the regional hospital took up the case. Four days later, the patient was released for a walk, and he died. Relatives blame it all on medical squabbles, Liter.kz reports with reference to the Telegram channel SHOT.

In a conversation with SHOT, relatives of the 41-year-old deceased Dmitry from the city of Nerekhta said that on the night of July 4, he received a serious knife wound in a domestic quarrel. There were no doctors in the city who could quickly save the man, so doctors urgently called the head of the vascular department of the Kostroma Regional Hospital, Anton Kazantsev. He was able to perform an operation that saved Dmitry’s life, and the next day the man was transported to the Kostroma Regional Hospital.

Something strange began there: Kazantsev was not allowed to see Dmitry. According to the doctor, “due to an old conflict between the surgeon and the hospital management.” He had previously spoken publicly about the accumulated problems in the institution.

On July 5, it was announced that Kazantsev had been suspended from work. Dmitry was looked after by other doctors, who allowed him to go outside on the fourth day after the difficult operation. The man took a walk in the park, and a few hours later his family was informed that he had died.

Now surgeon Kazantsev has written a statement to the Prosecutor General’s Office asking them to check the actions of his colleagues.

Relatives also want an investigation and are awaiting the results of the forensic examination.
