Man cuts open pregnant wife’s belly to check baby’s sex

In India, a man used a sickle to open the belly of his pregnant wife during a scandal about the gender of the unborn child, Liter.kz reports with reference to News9Live.

The incident occurred in the city of Badayun. The couple were married for 22 years and had five daughters. However, the father of the family, Panna Lal, wanted a son and blamed his wife for the fact that she had not yet given birth to a boy. On this basis there were constant quarrels.

In 2020, Anita became pregnant again. Panna Lal threatened the family that he would divorce and marry someone else if a girl was born. During another scandal over the gender of the child, a man cut his wife’s stomach with a sickle to check the gender of the child. At the time of the incident, the woman was eight months pregnant.

Despite severe injuries, the woman managed to run out of the house, where her brother, who worked nearby, saw her. Noticing his wife’s relative, Panna Lal ran away.

Doctors managed to save the woman, but the child did not survive. It turned out that the woman was pregnant with a boy.

The criminal was soon detained. In court, the man stated that Anita injured herself and wrote a false denunciation because he had a property dispute with her brothers. The court rejected these pleas and sentenced Panna Lal to life imprisonment.
