A very particular piece of malware was discovered by Kaspersky and reported by Bleeping Computer. This attacks the crypto wallets of MacOS users by taking advantage of the blind trust that some place in the brand’s devices, but there is more, because the method tends to target devices that are in the hands of people ready to break the law.
Because it is precisely under the guise of software aimed at “unblocking” applications obtained illegally on MacOS that this new virus appears. It asks the user for the password, presumably to “patch” the pirated software, and begins mass collection of information on the victim’s computer. The main target, however, is obvious: the Mac owner’s crypto wallet, the presence of which is immediately verified with the owner. If he detects them, the malware performs a “sleight of hand” exchange that immediately replaces the wallet with a fake version.
A particularly ferocious trick, even if it was already known. But the peculiarity of this software is that you have nothing to fear, as long as you are honest…
