Mali News – ECOWAS condemns the deadly attacks in Nigeria and says it is ready to support the country

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has condemned the deadly attacks carried out in Nigeria between 23 and 26 December. These attacks resulted in the deaths of almost 200 people and were described as a “despicable act” by ECOWAS.

In a statement released on December 31, the ECOWAS Commission called on the Nigerian government to intensify efforts to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators of these terrorist acts. ECOWAS is also committed to supporting Nigeria in its efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and combat terrorism and extremism.

The ECOWAS statement also expresses the organisation’s deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Nigeria.

The attacks in Nigeria are the latest in a series of violence that have shaken the country in recent years. Terrorism and extremism have become growing threats to Nigeria, as well as other countries in the region.

ECOWAS’ condemnation is an important signal of support for Nigeria in its fight against these threats. ECOWAS’ commitment to support Nigeria is also welcome.
