JAKARTA – The Malaysian U-19 National Team is optimistic about the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup which will take place in Indonesia . One of the players, Izzat Syahir Mohd Zulihsan, said his team is ready to rock Indonesia.

As is known, Malaysia U-19 has the status of defending champion in the AFF U-19 Cup. The young squad of Harimau Malaya – the nickname of the Malaysian National Team – is included in Group C with Thailand, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore.

Malaysia U-19 coach Juan Torres Garrido also continues to perfect his team’s preparations ahead of the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup. The young Harimau Malaya squad won 4-2 over Cambodia in a trial match a few days ago.

The victory made Izzat confident in the strength of Malaysia U-19. He is very sure that the young Harimau Malaya squad can shake up the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup which will take place in Surabaya, Indonesia.

“Looking at the team, it seems like everyone is ready to rock Indonesia,” said Izzar, quoted from Makan Bola, Monday (15/7/2024).

Garrido’s squad is scheduled to depart for Indonesia today. They will once again finalize their preparations, considering that the AFF U-19 Cup will start on July 17-29, 2024.

Malaysia U-19 will start their Group C campaign against Brunei on July 19. Followed by the second match against Singapore on July 22, and closed by facing Thailand on July 25, 2024.

The young Harimau Malaya squad must compete to secure the first position in Group C if they want to advance to the semifinals. If they cannot come out as group winners, their hopes are still open by taking one position as the best runner-up from the three groups.
