Magisterium of Cesar joins the national unemployment in support of reforms

The Association of Educators of Cesar (Aducesar), confirmed its active participation in the national strike called by the Colombian Federation of Education Workers (FECODE) and the workers’ centrals, scheduled for May 28 and 29, to support the reforms of President Petro, after the sinking in the Congress of the Popular Consultation promoted by the National Government.

The announcement was made by Jorge Rivero, president of Aducesar, who assured that the action plan that the guild will develop during the two days of mobilization. As indicated, on May 28 marches and concentrations will be made from 8:00 a.m. m., starting from the Ceiba roundabout, in Valledupar, where they will join with other union, social and communal sectors of the department.

“The second day of unemployment, on May 29, we will be developing open councils and pedagogical assemblies in the different municipalities of Cesar. We want citizens to understand the content of the reforms and why these are necessary for the well -being of the Colombian people,” Rivero said.

The union leader explained that the mobilization of the teaching is part of the democratic and legal mechanisms that citizens have to express their support or rejection of public policies. In this case, the day seeks to press the Congress of the Republic to legislate in favor of the labor, pension and health reforms promoted by the Executive.

“Congress must act according to the needs of the people. The social reforms raised by the government mainly benefit the working class. That is why we go out to support them strongly, with arguments and peacefully,” Rivero added.

Given the concerns for the interruption of classes during unemployment, the president of Adducesar was emphatic in ensuring that the contents not taught will be recovered. “Our ethical and pedagogical commitment to students is total. FECODE and the Ministry of Education always agree mechanisms to recover unemployment days. We are not going to harm the training of our students,” he explained.

Finally, Rivero extended the invitation to the entire citizenship of Cesar so that these days of social protest are added. “See you at the different points established by the municipal sectionals. We will be in the streets defending social rights and strengthening popular participation,” he concluded.
