He claims that his “leaders do not sleep and do not have peace of mind”
The former Venezuelan deputy Omar Gonzalezone of the six opposition members who have taken refuge in the official residence of the Embassy of Argentina in Caracas —under the protection of Brazil after the expulsion of the diplomatic mission of the southern country— since March, said this Monday that the “weakness” that —he claims— the regime has Nicolas Maduro “increases” as we approach January 10, 2025, when the next presidential term begins.
“Many believe that time is Maduro’s ally, but they are wrong, because as we get closer to January, Maduro’s time will run out and he will become increasingly illegitimate, and his permanence in power will become increasingly illegal.”said the opposition, quoted in a press release from the Vente Venezuela (VV) party —led by the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado—, to which it belongs.

According to González, the “fragility” of the regime “is notorious” and “is reflected in the emaciated, dark-circled and anguished image of a leadership that neither sleeps nor has peace of mind.”
The main opposition coalition – the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD)— insists on the victory of its standard-bearer, Edmundo González Urrutia, in the presidential elections. However, the National Electoral Council (CNE), once Chavismo was under control, it endorsed the fraud and proclaimed Nicolás Maduro the winner for a third consecutive term.
The Venezuelans, according to Gonzalez, spoke with “an overwhelming and undeniable forcefulness” in the elections of July 28, while “The Venezuelan regime has not been able to show a single record showing that Nicolás Maduro won the election.”
The PUD bases the “victory” of González Urrutia on the “83.5% of the minutes” which he claims to have collected thanks to people who were witnesses and members of the polling station during the election day, while Chavismo insists that they are “false”.
“We Venezuelans have made it clear that we will not give up until Maduro and his accomplices leave power, using the truth as our main weapon in this endless battle.”Gonzalez added.
In addition to the former deputy, there are also Magalli Meda, Pedro Urruchurtu Noselli, Claudia Macero, Humberto Villalobos and the former minister Fernando Martínez Mottola, all collaborators of the PUD.
