The government of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela attacked its regional allies Gustavo Petro, president of Colombia; Luiz Inácio Lula de Silva, president of Brazil; and José “Pepe” Mujica, former head of state of Uruguay.
Through his account on the social network Put your opinions where they fit.”
“Do President Petro, President Lula, Mujica, etc., know about the insurrectional and assassination plan revealed here by the main spokesperson of fascism in Miami?” asked the Chavismo reference; while he continued: “Would your countries accept plans to attack the president like the ones we have revealed on numerous occasions? Do you know that the fascist organization Vente Venezuela never requested to be registered as a political party nor was there any application on its own initiative? That is to say, that party was never registered in the CNE (National Electoral Council) nor did they seek registration on their own initiative,” Rodríguez published.
And he completed: “Have you heard that 100% of the parties accredited to the CNE registered any of the 13 candidates, from across the political spectrum, competing for the presidency of Venezuela? Ignorance? Ignorance? Fear? We don’t get involved in anyone’s business. Put your opinions where they fit.”
This strong attack by Chavismo against its historical regional allies is due to the fact that Petro, Lula and Mujica questioned in recent days the electoral process that is taking place in Venezuela, where the opposition leader María Corina Machado is disqualified from participating in the elections. July 28 and the person she wanted to nominate, historian Corina Yoris, was also not allowed to register as a candidate.
On Thursday, the presidents of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; and France, Emmanuel Macron, stated that the impediments to the registration of the opposition Yoris candidacy are “serious.”
Lula, who spoke to the press in a joint appearance with his French counterpart, on an official visit to Brazil, said that the fact that Yoris has not been able to register as a candidate is something that has no “political or legal” explanation.
For its part, the Government of Colombia expressed its concern about the difficulties of the Venezuelan opposition in registering their candidacies for this year’s elections.
“Colombia expresses its concern about the recent events that occurred on the occasion of the registration of some presidential candidacies, particularly in relation to the difficulties faced by majority opposition sectors such as the PUD and the Vente Venezuela movement, among others,” the Foreign Ministry said in an official statement.
Meanwhile, former Uruguayan president José Mujica said that Venezuela lives in a “stubborn regime” that does not respect the “elementary laws of democracy.”
“Do you know what Venezuela’s misfortune is? It is a misfortune similar to that of Argentina: it is too rich. And they have surrounded it. “It has a stubborn regime, which is blindfolded and contradictory,” said the Frente Amplio representative to radio Rincón when participating in an event at the Expo Activa in Soriano, Uruguay.
And he added: “When you have a place under siege, any dissident is a traitor. So, Venezuela’s political system is always on guard and does not respect the elementary laws of democracy. You need to respect those who think differently because to agree… it would be a pain, we are left with the monarchy. “We need freedom to disagree.”
Thanks from María Corina Machado
The Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado thanked Petro, Lula and Macron this Friday for their positions on the presidential elections of July 28, in which they expressed their concern about the impossibility of anti-Chavismo to register the candidacy of Corina Yoris.
“I thank Presidents Emmanuel Macron, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Gustavo Petro for their positions in the last hours that reaffirm that our fight is fair and democratic,” said the leader of Vente Venezuela on her X account.
He then called on the “democratic leaders of the world” to unite to demand that the Maduro regime allow Yoris to register as a candidate for Venezuela’s main opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD).
“It has become clear that there are no political or legal reasons that prevent Corina Yoris from being a candidate and that her exclusion, like mine, denies the possibility of free and fair elections,” he remarked.
Finally, he stated: “We ask all democratic leaders in the world for their support for the full implementation of the Barbados Agreement, signed just a few months ago, to achieve free and fair elections in Venezuela.”
