Madagascar will host the 8th edition of the SADC industrialization week

From July 28 to August 1, 2025, Antananarivo will be the epicenter of a major event for the economic transformation of southern Africa: the week of industrialization of SADC (Southern African Development Community). This 8th edition will be held at the Novotel Convention Center, bringing together more than 500 participants from the 16 SADC member states.

Organized by the SADC Secretariat, in collaboration with the Malagasy government, the SIM (MADAGASCAR industry union) and the SADC Business Council, this regional meeting is positioned as the largest public-private platform dedicated to the industrialization of the region.

A strategic meeting for a changing region

Placed under the theme: “Promote industrialization, the transformation of the agricultural system and the energy transition for resilient SADC”the 8ᵉ edition of the SADC industrialization week will highlight the essential levers of regional industrial development. The event is part of a dynamic of economic transformation carried by a common desire for integration, modernization and resilience in the face of climatic, energy and food challenges.

The Minister of Industrialization and Trade, Mr. David Herizo Ralambofinginga, also stressed the strategic importance of this edition, which represents a major opportunity to position Madagascar as a motor player in regional industrialization.

For five days, a dense and targeted program will mobilize all stakeholders around:

  • High level plenary and thematic round tables
  • B2B and B2G meetings to stimulate investments
  • Exhibitions open to the general public
  • Visits to industrial sites
  • Spaces dedicated to structuring projects and regional initiatives

The event also aims to strengthen the understanding and implementation of the SADC industrialization strategy (SISR 2015–2063), while encouraging the consolidation of regional value chains, especially in the agro-industry, pharmacy and mining valuation areas.

By bringing together more than 500 participants, public decision -makers, private operators, financial institutions and technical partners, the industrialization week aims to bring out concrete and sustainable projects, based on enhanced cooperation between the Member States, at the service of a more integrated, competitive and resilient SADC.
