Mada Team Championship: Titles shared between the big clubs

The Malagasy karate-do week ended in apotheosis this weekend at the Mahamasina Sports Palace, with the first edition of the Madagascar Senior Team Championship. Two days of intense fighting kept the public in suspense.

A great success for this first edition, marked by spectacular clashes. The results confirmed the balance of power between the major clubs in the capital and its surrounding areas. In men’s Kumite, ASKA won against AKKA Avaradrano, while ATB completed the podium. In the women’s category, AKKA Avaradrano won the title, ahead of Kokaju and Jirama. In men’s Kata, the Andohalo Tigers shone, relegating ASKA to the rank of vice-champion and CSKP-UCM to third place. Finally, in women’s Kata, Ichiban Atsimondrano dominated the competition, followed by UCM. In total, 13 leagues were represented. The president of the Malagasy Karate Federation, Emile Ratefinanahary, said he was satisfied with this first edition, despite the difficulties encountered by certain clubs to field full teams, in accordance with international regulations. “In the past, the majority of clubs fielded senior teams without difficulty. Today, only a few teams have responded, even though the formula remains very simple: three fighters for the ladies and five for the men. he explained.

End of season

The medal ceremony gained in brilliance thanks to the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Alain Désiré Rasambany, who did not fail to congratulate the clubs for their commitment and the value of the performances. Note that this championship was preceded by the national Gasshuku, organized from December 15 to 18. The four major schools, namely Shotokan, Goju-ryu, Wado-ryu and Shito-ryu, were highlighted by their respective Malagasy experts. During these intensive sessions, the masters shared their knowledge with young athletes, referees, coaches and administrators from the different regional leagues. The meeting ended with exams and grade changes. End clap for the 2025 season. The 2026 season will open with training aimed at obtaining the federal facilitator diploma.
