Machu Picchu is no longer only considered a historical and cultural destination, but also for its commitment to environmental protection.

This distinction, initially obtained in September 2021, will be renewed and made official in a special ceremony in the coming weeks.

The Carbon Neutral recognition, granted by Green Initiativeratified the joint efforts between local civil society and the public and private sectors in the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of Machu Picchu. The renewal of this certification has been possible thanks to the work of the Municipality of Machu Picchu Pueblohe grupo Aje and the Inkaterra hotel chain.
