Maarten Paes Gets Goosebumps Making Debut at GBK Stadium: Crazy Atmosphere!

JAKARTA – Kiper Indonesian National Team Maarten Paes, had a successful debut at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK). He managed to record a clean sheet when the Indonesian National Team hosted Australia.

In the second match of Group C 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone Round 3, the Indonesian National Team drew 0-0 against Australia. The match took place at SUGBK, Tuesday (10/9/2024) evening WIB.

After the match, Paes was chosen as Man of The Match. This is the second time Paes has been chosen as Man of The Match after winning it in the first match against Saudi Arabia.

Paes made a number of great saves in the match against Australia. However, apart from his great performance, Paes was actually amazed by the atmosphere at SUGBK.

In his debut match, the FC Dallas player admitted to having goosebumps while playing at SUGBK. This is inseparable from the atmosphere of SUGBK which is filled with supporters of the Indonesian National Team.

“It was an incredible game, an incredible atmosphere, I had goosebumps for 90 minutes, an incredible atmosphere, crazy,” said Paes, after the match.

Meanwhile, regarding the result, Paes was pleased that his team was able to draw against Australia. Because the visiting team had many chances to score, but their goal was still safe.

“It was a tough game for us, they had a lot of chances, fortunately it’s 0-0, so that’s good,” he said.
