Lynn Van den Broeck (31) did not lack motivation, but the physical exhaustion in ‘Special forces’ was too much for her. On Monday evening she had to leave the program, deeply disappointed.
However, the actress started the program with a mission. Years ago she was walking down the street with her best friend. When someone confronted him and even threatened him because he was homosexual, she turned back. “I saw no other way out. I left him there alone and that could have ended very badly,” Van den Broeck said emotionally in front of the cameras on Monday evening. “I still regret it.”

Finding the tools to not immediately run away from situations that are out of her control. That is what she hoped to achieve during her participation in Special Forces: whoever dares wins. “It was never in me to be the step-up girl.” Also because her father is a soldier, the will to reach the finish is great. Too big even.
She managed to summon the last of her strength for the difficult walk with a sandbag on her back, even though the end seemed near. “I have a hard time with failure. I’m not going to quickly say: I’ll leave it at that for now.” That turned out to be the case. Not much later, when she had to climb a waterfall, it seemed like everything struck at once. The fatigue, mentally and physically, and the fear. Van den Broeck froze and couldn’t even start the climb.

So it’s over and out, but she couldn’t utter the words ‘I’m quitting’. It was instructor Kevin who told it like it was. “There is no shame in this. You gave one hundred percent. Do you think your father won’t be proud now?”
There were nine of them then, and soon there might even be eight. Gers Pardoelen did not exactly make a good impression on Monday evening, after he smuggled a roll-on deodorant into the camp against direct orders. When asked during a confrontation whether he even felt like it anymore, he hesitated. And hop, there was the end-generic. To be continued.
